MAKING TAX DIGITAL
Making Tax Digital (MTD) is HMRC’s move to modernise the tax system by requiring businesses and individuals to keep digital records and submit updates online. It aims to make tax reporting more accurate and efficient. MTD has already been rolled out for VAT and is now being extended to Income Tax Self Assessment (ITSA). If you’re a landlord or self-employed with turnover* over £50,000, you’ll need to follow the new rules from April 2026.
*Turnover refers to the total income before any expenses are deducted.
